Making Baltimore Safer

We were exceptionally busy during our first two years, transitioning to a community prosecution model, establishing a major investigations unit, transforming the section that prosecutes sex offenses and family violence, and expanding alternative-to-prison programs, just to name four of our initiatives.

More importantly, our efforts and our partnerships with police and the public are producing positive results. For example, we produced an overall felony conviction rate in 2012 of 69.3 percent, a five point improvement compared to the previous two years.

We also completed more Circuit Court cases, producing outcomes in 14,333 cases last year compared to 13,423 cases in 2010.

We have much more work to do to make all of Baltimore's neighborhoods safer, but as these numbers reveal, we are making significant progress. For more information, click here.
