Making Baltimore Safer

The Office of the State's Attorney for Baltimore City produced a conviction rate in 2013 of 67.2 percent in Circuit Court felony cases, which include murders, non-fatal shootings, rapes, and sex offenses, marking the third consecutive year that we have delivered a better success rate than the year before State's Attorney Bernstein took office.

We also completed more Circuit Court felonies last year than in 2010, finalizing 5,641 such cases. To learn more about how we are performing, click here.

The improved results are attributable in part to the many fundamental reforms that State’s Attorney Bernstein has made in Office operations since taking over in 2011. Guided by a best practices report produced by a panel of experts, State’s Attorney Bernstein has transformed how this Office fights crime to make all of Baltimore’s neighborhoods safer. To learn more about the specific changes, click here.
