LEWIS LUCAS MURDER TRIAL SCHEDULED

TO BEGIN TUESDAY, JULY 1, 2008

Baltimore, MD – June 30, 2008 – The murder trial of Lewis Lucas, 24, of the 6200 block of Elliott Street is scheduled to begin 9:30AM tomorrow before Judge Gale E. Rasin, 509 Courthouse East, 111 N. Calvert St.

The Baltimore City Grand Jury indicted Lucas December 10, 2007 for first-degree murder and handgun counts.

Court documents allege on November 2, 2007, witness(es) identified Lucas as the person responsible for a shooting incident in the 1300 block of Ballard Way.  Lawrence Jones, 17, was found lying in the 1400 block of Bonsal Street suffering from a gunshot wound.  Lucas and Jones were allegedly arguing about illegal narcotics being sold in the 1300 block of Ballard Way.    Lucas allegedly displayed a handgun and fatally shot Jones in the torso before fleeing the scene on foot.

Lucas remains held without bail at the Baltimore City Detention Center.  Assistant State’s Attorney David Grzechowiak
