EDDIE LEVAR HAWKINS SENTENCED TO 35-YEARS SUSPEND ALL BUT 20-YEARS IN PRISON FOLLOWING SECOND-DEGREE MURDER GUILTY PLEA

Baltimore, MD – June 30, 2008 – At a hearing today, Judge John N. Prevas sentenced Eddie Lavar Hawkins, 30, of the 2200 block of Mount Holly St. to 35-years suspend all but 20-years in prison and five-years probation.  The first five years are to be served without the possibility of parole.

Hawkins pled guilty May 9, 2008 to second-degree murder and use of a handgun in the commission of a crime of violence.

On September 2, 2006, at approximately 5am Darren Wilson was found fatally shot in the 3500 block of Lucille Ave. in Northwest Baltimore.  Wilson was shot six times and several witnesses identified Hawkins, also known as “Moby,” as the shooter.  Wilson and Hawkins had been in a dispute over drug territory.

Assistant State's Attorney Robin Wherely of the Homicide Division prosecuted this case.
