Baltimore, MD – April 17, 2008 – Hundreds of runners and walkers are expected to join State’s Attorney Patricia C. Jessamy at 9:00 AM Saturday, April 19, 2008 for the eighth annual Victims’ Fund Run and Walk to raise money for a special fund that helps crime victims cover the unexpected costs of victimization that are usually not covered by insurance.
“This fund is a very valuable resource for victims of crime by immediately providing emergency help to individuals who are suffering from criminal victimization,” said Baltimore City State’s Attorney Patricia C. Jessamy. “We often see cases where victims need immediate assistance, and cannot wait for the outcome of the full criminal proceeding.”
The Fund Run and Walk kicks off rain or shine near the Recreation Center inside Patterson Park, 2601 East Baltimore Street. The 5k run is a rolling, double loop course. The 1-mile walk is a flat, single loop course. The courses are wheelchair accessible. There are refreshments for all runners and walkers and cash awards and trophies for the top finishers.
Registration fee is $25.00 on the day of the race. For additional information or for a registration form, call (410) 396-1897 or on the web at: www.stattorney.org.
The race coincides with National Crime Victims’ Rights Week. Proceeds from this year’s event will continue to assist victims of crime who do not have the financial resources to cover expenses resulting from criminal victimization, and who meet the established criteria. Last
