About the Office
 Patricia C. Jessamy  

The Office of the State’s Attorney for Baltimore City represents the State of Maryland in all criminal prosecutions that result from crimes charged by local law enforcement agencies occurring in Baltimore City. The State’s Attorney’s Office is mandated under the Maryland Constitution and managed by a locally elected official who serves a 4-year term of office. Criminal Cases are heard in either Circuit Court, Juvenile Court, or one of three District Courts in Baltimore City.

In addition to criminal prosecutions, the Office of the State's Attorney for Baltimore City also, convenes and supervises Grand Jury proceedings, enforces child support orders, prosecutes traffic and other violations of state law, conducts juvenile adjudications, and provides information, assistance and support to crime victims and witnesses.

 Mission Statement  
It is the mission of the Office of the State's Attorney for Baltimore City to investigate and prosecute without prejudice or bias crimes and offenses that occur in Baltimore City; and to ensure that all citizens in Baltimore City, victims, witness, and defendants alike, are treated fairly and respectfully and are accorded procedural justice.
 Vision Statement  

To use a three-pronged approach to crime, prevention, treatment/early intervention and law enforcement; as well as to advocate for the rights of victims in an effort to make Baltimore City a safer community for all residents.
