Associate Director - Communications
The Office of the State’s Attorney is seeking an Associate Director in the Communications and Community Affairs Division.This position requires attendance at meetings and community events that occur outside the normal business day, on weekends and holidays. The successful applicant will report to the Director of the Community Affairs Division and will work with another Associate Director.
This position is located at 120 East Baltimore St. and is an at- will position not subject to civil service rules.
Position duties include but are not limited to the following: track cases and outcomes for reporting purposes to the press and public; respond to and initiate communications with the press and public; prepare briefing documents for the State’s Attorney; attend and participate in community meetings individually and with the State's Attorney or other members of the Office of the State’s Attorney; compose and edit various written materials, including news releases, brochures, newsletters, letters, commendations, etc.; contribute to the Office Web site, as well as other social media platforms; manage applications for the Office’s internship program; and coordinate the Community Leadership in Action program.
Qualifications: A bachelor’s degree is required and effective communication skills are essential. Prior experience in communications is a plus.
Drug and alcohol testing and criminal background check required before employment.
Compensation: The salary for this position is commensurate with experience but will not exceed $43,112. This position includes paid time off and Baltimore City health benefits.
