7.1.11: Grand Jury Indicts Mason, Charges Him with Raping Woman as She Moved Her Possessions into New Apartment
June 30, 2011 -- The Baltimore Grand Jury indicted Karriem Mason today, charging him with raping a woman on June 7, 2011, as she moved her possessions into a Mount Vernon apartment, Baltimore City State's Attorney Gregg L. Bernstein announced.
Mason, 37, has been indicted on the following charges: first-degree rape, first-degree sex offense, first-degree attempted sex offense, first-degree assault, first-degree burglary, use of a deadly weapon during the commision of a violent crime, false imprisonment, and third-degree sex offense.
Mason is being held without bail. He is scheduled to be arraigned on August 1, 2011.
An indictment is not a finding of guilt. Individuals charged by indictment are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty.
