10.24.11: Detective Charged with Presenting a False Insurance Disability Claim
October 24, 2011 -- The Office of the State's Attorney for Baltimore City has charged Detective Antonio Green, a member of the Baltimore City Police Department, with two counts of presenting a false insurance disability claim — one a felony, the other a misdemeanor.
The prosecutor's office filed the charges by criminal information. Green's arraignment hearing is scheduled for November 28, 2011, in Baltimore City Circuit Court.
The felony charge, for alleged false claims worth more than $300, carries a maximum penalty of 15 years in prison and a $10,000 fine. The misdemeanor charge, for alleged false claims valued at less than $300, carries a maximum penalty of 18 months in prison and a fine of $10,000. Both the felony and misdemeanor charges stem from a single alleged false claim.
A charge by criminal information is not a finding of guilt. Individuals charged by criminal information are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty.
