2.25.11: Williams Convicted of First-Degree Murder for Fatally Stabbing Wife Outside Courthouse

February 25, 2011 -- A Baltimore City Circuit Court jury convicted Cleaven L. Williams Jr. today of first-degree murder and possession of a deadly weapon for fatally stabbing his wife outside of a city courthouse in November 2008.

Williams, 35, admitted that he killed Veronica Williams but argued that his actions were in response to an attack by his wife.

Scheduled to be sentenced on April 29, 2011, Williams faces a maximum of life in prison plus three years.

Assistant State's Attorney Kevin Wiggins prosecuted the case.
