Dontay Dorsey, 25, and DeAngelo Anthony 24, have both been found guilty of burglary and murder in the death of Tavon Frederick, and are facing life in prison. The victim was found beaten and shot to death in his bedroom on the 3300 block of Westerwald Ave. An autopsy revealed Frederick had been shot 3 times in the head, once in the chest and had multiple bruises and contusions.

Surveillance video from a nearby school shows Dorsey and Anthony hanging out in the area prior to the murder. The video also shows the men entering the back of  Frederick’s home on May 23, 2012.

Despite his claim to never have been at the home, concrete evidence found Dorsey’s palm print was found on the door knob of the back door; his DNA was also found underneath the victim’s fingernails. During the murder, a cell phone not belonging to the victim, was dropped inside of the home. A search of the phone revealed text messages to and from Angelo.

After the senseless shooting of the victim, Anthonyand Dorsey stole the victim’s PlayStation, money from his pocket, and marijuana.

Assistant State’s Attorney Gerard Volatile who tried this case, said the murder happened in just 6 minutes.

“It’s unfortunate that a father had to lose his life so tragically,” said State’s Attorney Marilyn Mosby. “This case exemplifies that we will continue to pursue and prosecute those who have a reckless disregard for human life.”

Dorsey and Anthony will be sentenced on May 1.
