For Immediate Release 4/27/2017

South Baltimore— Kenneth Bryant was convicted by a Baltimore City jury of three counts of sexually abusing a minor and one count of second degree sex offense. Assistant State’s Attorney (ASA) Mark Jaskulski prosecuted the case.

East Baltimore — Maurice Dubose was convicted by a Baltimore City jury of second degree murder and sentenced to 28 years in prison. He must serve the first 25 years of his sentence without the possibility of parole.

West Baltimore—This week, Nakia Scott was convicted by a Baltimore City jury and sentenced to 20 years in prison, suspend all but 5 years, for two counts of possession with intent to distribute. Assistant State’s Attorney Corey Kropp prosecuted the case.

Southeast Baltimore—Wilfredo Abrego was found guilty of second degree rape, sexual abuse of a minor, and third degree sex offense by a Baltimore City judge.

Southeastern District  - Terrance Jenkins pled guilty Monday morning to the first degree murder of Gina Kirchner. Jenkins pled guilty late last week to murdering his girlfriend, Shelly Fillion, in Baltimore County just days before strangling Kirchner to death. Assistant State’s Attorney Elizabeth Stock prosecuted the case.

Northwestern Baltimore - On Wednesday, Anne Kirsch was convicted of manslaughter and child abuse resulting in death after a week-long bench trial before Judge Cynthia Jones of the Circuit Court for Baltimore City. Special Victims Unit Chief, Anne Colt Leitess, prosecuted the case.

Southwest Baltimore – Carl Cooper was convicted of one count of attempted first degree murder, two counts of using a handgun in the commission of a crime of violence, three counts of reckless endangerment, two counts of first degree assault, one count of illegally transporting a firearm, and one count of being a felon in possession of a regulated firearm.

North Baltimore—Dennis Padgett was sentenced to Life without parole plus 71 years for killing Troy Preston and Robert Thomas over a parallel parking space in front of his house. Padgett was convicted in December 2016 by a Baltimore City jury of manslaughter for killing Preston, first degree murder for killing Thomas, and five weapons charges related to the shooting.

Southwest Baltimore – Robert Harris was sentenced to Life plus 20 years for his first degree murder, conspiracy to commit murder and two handgun convictions from January 2017.

In 1997, Robert D. Harris was convicted and sentenced to life in prison for hiring someone to murder his fiancé in Violetville Park. He was granted a new trial in 2012, and yet another new trial in January of this year.
