August 2, 2011 -- In our ongoing effort to forge closer, more productive relationships with residents and community groups throughout Baltimore, prosecutors and staffers from the State's Attorney's Office will attend National Night Out events in every one of the city's nine police districts this evening, State's Attorney Gregg L. Bernstein announced.
National Night Out is designed to raise crime prevention awareness; strengthen neighborhood spirit and unity; and develop partnerships between the city and the community.
"Strong relationships between prosecutors and the public are critically important to improving our performance and effectiveness in convicting violent offenders who prey on the citizens of Baltimore, which in turn, will make all of our neighborhoods safer. This is one reason why we are transforming the State's Attorney's Office to operate under a community prosecution model," Bernstein said.
Assistant State's Attorney's attending events around the city tonight will also use the opportunity to share specific information about ways that we can work together now to achieve better outcomes, Bernstein said, citing community impact statements and court watch programs as examples.
State's Attorney Bernstein is scheduled to attend events in the Eastern, Northeastern, Southern, Southwestern, and Northwestern districts.
