6.6.11: Cook Sentenced for Being a Felon in Possession of a Handgun

June 6, 2011 -- Baltimore City Circuit Court Judge Lawrence P. Fletcher-Hill sentenced Dominac Cook today to five years in prison without the possibility of parole for being a felon in possession of a handgun.

While executing a search and seizure warrant at Cook's primary residence int eh 1700 block of Darley Avenue in November 2008, police officers recovered two handguns, one shotgun, and ammunition from the drop ceiling in the kitchen. As a result of his 2008 felony drug conviction, Cook, 30, is legally prohibited from possession a handgun or shotgun.

A Circuit Court jury convicted Cook in April 2011 of being a felon in possession of a handgun and a drug felon in possession of a shotgun.

Assistant State's Attorney Adrew Kowalczyk prosecuted the case.
