10.26.11: Evans Sentenced to Life Plus 10 for Murdering Woman Seated in Parked Car
October 26, 2011 -- Baltimore City Circuit Court Judge Edward R.K. Hargadon sentenced Maurice L. Evans yesterday to life plus 10 years in prison for the 2009 murder of a woman who was sitting in her car in a parking lot.
On July 29, 2009, Evans approached a vehicle parked in the lot outside of The Clubhouse Bar in Northeast Baltimore, reached inside, and shot Shonte Ellis, who was sitting in the driver's seat, a total of 16 times. The victim died of her wounds.
A Baltimore jury convicted Evans, 18, on July 22, 2011, of first-degree murder and use of handgun in a crime of violence.
Assistant State's Attorney Robin Wherley prosecuted the case.
