2.15.12: Pulliam Convicted for Robbing Salon Owner, Shooting Her in the Head

February 15, 2012 -- A Baltimore City Circuit Court jury convicted Malcolm Pulliam last night of attempted first-degree murder and five other charges for robbing a beauty salon owner and then shooting her in the head, execution style.

On the morning May 4, 2010, Pulliam entered Blessed Productions Hair Salon in the 6600 block of Belair Road, pointed a handgun at the establishment's owner, and demanded to know the location of her safe. Not having one, she instead withdrew all of the money from her purse and gave it to him.

Pulliam then led the victim to the restroom located in the rear of the business, ordered her to kneel on the ground, shot her in the head four times, and ran away. Remarkably, the victim managed to make it to a neighboring business to ask for help. Not only did she survive. She also served as the primary witness against Pulliam.

In addition to attempted first-degree murder, the jury also convicted Pulliam, 34, of robbery with a dangerous weapon; use of a handgun in a crime of violence; reckless endangerment; wearing, carrying, and transporting a handgun; and discharging a weapon in Baltimore City.

Scheduled for sentencing on April 5, 2012, Pulliam faces a maximum sentence of life plus 49 years in prison.

Assistant State's Attorney Michelle Wilson prosecuted the case.
