3.25.11: Woman Sentenced to Life for Armed Robbery of Neighbor that Resulted in Death

March 25, 2011 -- Bonnie Lee Lizor, 53, was sentenced this week to life in prison, with all but 30 years suspended, for her involvement in an attempted armed robbery of a neighbor that resulted in the neighbor's death.

On December 2, 2009, Lizor and Austin Lassiter entered the Northeast Baltimore home of Lizor's neighbor, 64-year-old David Monath, with the intent to rob him. The idea was Lizor's. However, the robbery was foiled when someone coming to visit Monath heard unusual noises emanating from inside the home and entered. In addition to Lizor and Lassiter, the visitor discovered Monath tied up and non-responsive.

According to medical examiners, Monath suffered a fatal cardiac arrest during the robbery.

Lassiter, 28, who pled guilty to second-degree murder and conspiracy to commit robbery, received a 50-year sentence with all but 20 years suspended.

On March 21, 2011, Lizor pled guilty to first-degree murder, and Baltimore City Circuit Court Judge Lynn K. Stewart sentenced her. Lizor also received five years of supervised probation.

Assistant State's Attorney Richard Gibson prosecuted the case.
