6.24.11: Green Indicted for May 2011 Hit-and-Run Accident Near Johns Hopkins University
June 24, 2011 -- Baltimore City State's Attorney Gregg L. Bernstein announced that on June 16, 2011, the Grand Jury indicted Thomas D. Green on charges stemming from the May 7, 2011, hit-and-run auto accident that injured two individuals as they were walking near the campus of Johns Hopkins University.
The nine-count indictment charges Green, a 37-year-old Baltimore County resident, with:
1. Causing a life-threatening injury to victim one as a result of negligent driving while impared by alcohol.
2. Failing to render aid to to victim one after being the operator of a vehicle that was involved in an accident where bodily injury occurred.
3. Failing to render aid to victim two after being the operator of a vehicle that was involved in an accident where bodily injury occurred.
4. Failing to exercise due care to avoid colliding with pedestrians while driving a vehicle.
5 & 6. Failing to immediately stop his vehicle as close as possible to the scene of the accident that resulted in serious bodily injury (two counts).
7. Driving in reckless manner.
8. Driving in a negligent manner.
9. Driving a vehicle while impaired by alcohol.
Taken into custody this morning, Green is awaiting an initial appearance before a Court Commissioner.
An indictment is not a finding of guilt. Individuals charged by indictment are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty.
