3.18.11: Johnson Charged with Threatening, Intimidating Officer of the Court
March 18, 2011 -- The State's Attorney's Office announced today that Shaun Johnson, 22, has been charged by the Baltimore City Sherriff's Office with obstructing justice for allegedly threatening to attack the Assistant State's Attorney who is prosecuting Johnson's girlfriend.
"Without fail or hesitation, our office will aggressively pursue and prosecute those who obstruct justice and threaten violence against victims, witnesses, and court officers," State's Attorney Gregg L. Bernstein said. "Such criminal acts affect the very core of the criminal justice system and will not be tolerated. Those who challenge my resolve on witness intimidation will, without exception, face the full force of my office and the entire law enforcement community."
At the State's request, Johnson, who resides in the 2700 block of West Belvedere Avenue, was denied bail. The three charges -- intimidating a witness/juror/court officer; soliciting the intimidation of a witness/juror/court officer; and threatening a state official -- carry a combined maximum sentence of 13 years in prison.
