3.28.11: Man Sentenced to Life for Rapes in Canton Area
March 28, 2011 -- Baltimore City Circuit Court Judge Charles J. Peters sentenced Donald Vaughan, 20, today to life in prison with all but 40 years suspended for the rapes of two women in the Canton area.
On January 1, 2007, Vaughn forced his way into a home in the 2700 block of Dillon Street and raped the victim inside. Nearly three years later, on December 19, 2009, Vaughan forced his way into another Canton home, this one in the 800 block of Kenwood Avenue, and again beat and raped the occupant. In second attack, the defendant slashed the victim's neck.
Vaughan pled guilty to two counts of first-degree rape and one count of first-degree assault. Vaughan has two pending sexual assault cases in Lancaster, Virginia, stemming from alleged attacks in November and December of 2009.
Assistant State's Attorney Katherine Smeltzer prosecuted the case.
