8.11.11: Grey Sentenced to Life for Murdering Man Following Dispute Over Drug Territory
August 11, 2011 -- Baltimore City Circuit Court Judge Yolanda A. Tanner sentenced Julian Grey yesterday to life in prison, with all but 60 years suspended, for murdering the man he argued with earlier in the day about a West Baltimore drug territory.
On Tuesday, August 19, 2008, Grey and Eric Brown got into a dispute about a drug territory in the 1000 block of Edmondson Avenue. Grey left the scene but he ultimately returned. At approximately 1:20 p.m., he shot Brown one time in the back of the head. Brown, 20, died of his injuries a day later.
During the ensuing investigation, witnesses positively identified Grey through photographic arrays.
A jury convicted Grey, 28, in June 2011 of first-degree murder and use of a handgun in the commission of crime of violence.
Assistant State's Attorney Nicole Lomartire prosecuted the case.
