10.17.11: Kevin Pushia Sentenced to Life Plus 45 Years
October 17, 2011 -- Baltimore City Circuit Court Judge Barry G. Williams sentenced Kevin Pushia today to life plus 45 years in prison for conspiracy to commit murder.
Pushia pled guilty to participating in the 2009 murder of Lemuel Wallace, a mentally challenged, legally blind man who relied on others for care, including Pushia. Wallace's body was discovered in a public restroom in West Baltimore's Leakin Park.
Pushia plotted the murder in order to collect on insurance policies that he had taken out of Wallace.
"This defendant believed that money was more valuable than Mr. Wallace's life. He was wrong. He also seemed to believe that no one would notice or care if he targeted one of our most vulnerable citizens. Again, he was wrong. We are gratified by this sentence," said Baltimore City State's Attorney Gregg L. Bernstein.
Assistant State's Attorney Robin Wherley prosecuted the case.
