Duties of the ASA will include reviewing police investigations of adult sexual assaults, interviewing victims and witnesses, working closely with the Baltimore City Police Department, Baltimore City Crime and DNA Lab, Mercy SAFE nurses and other partners from the early stages of the case through prosecution. ASA will handle all court hearings. ASA will attend meetings with investigators, medical review teams and other partners. ASA will answer phone calls and emails from investigators. Demonstrated interest and background in these cases, highly organized, ability to work independently and criminal jury trial experience required.
Employees in this class, in most cases, work a conventional schedule commensurate with the need to be prepared for trial. Work is primarily performed in an office where normal working conditions are encountered. The work requires minimal physical exertion.
Graduation from an accredited law school and admitted to practice law in the State of Maryland with criminal jury trial experience.
The applicant is required to pass a drug and alcohol screening and a criminal background investigation, which includes fingerprinting.
Compensation: $88,000 plus benefits
