Job Description: CSMIU is a felony trial unit designed to work closely with local, state, and federal law enforcement agencies toward a common goal of reducing violent crime generators through criminal intelligence, community outreach and law enforcement partnerships. This position is non-supervisory. Typical required duties will include, but are not limited to:
- attending regular criminal intelligence and violent crime drivers-targeting meetings
- conducting investigations, developing and maintaining criminal intelligence on identified violent crime targets
- tracking target cases and reporting on office-wide case data
- working with community members to identify crime trends
- working with community liaisons to obtain and disseminate information regarding intelligence to assist communities
- working with Baltimore Community Intelligence Centers (“BCIC”) – real-time crime response centers - located at the Baltimore Police Department districts
- representing the State at all points of investigation and trial progress through the court system, including grand jury, hearings, pre-trial motions, bench or jury trials, post-trial motions
Requirements: Applicants must have a juris doctor degree and be licensed to practice law in the State of Maryland. Applicants must have a working knowledge, or ability to become knowledgeable in Microsoft Excel/Word/Outlook, Judicial Dialog, Google Earth. Working knowledge of ArcGIS is a plus. Applicants should be well organized and self-motivated. Must have ability to communicate well in front of BPD command staff, federal partners such as the Drug Enforcement Agency/Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms/US Attorney’s Office, and like agencies and organizations.
Experience Level: 1-3 years including trial and investigative experience
Salary: $77,191+ commensurate with experience
This is a full-time, local government public service position which may qualify for Federal Student Aid Public Service Loan Forgiveness.
