The Office is seeking a Relocation Investigator to fill a position in the Victim Witness Division located at The Mitchell Courthouse on 100 N. Calvert Street. This is a full time grant funded position. 

Primary Duties and Responsibilities: 

  • Prepare and review criminal background history, crime law reports, and other related records relevant to victims and witnesses in relocation  
  • Ascertain and verify respondent’s legal identity through fingerprint identification and other documents, e.g., birth certificates and marriage certificates 
  • Prepare and evaluate subpoenas follow through to ensure timely receipt of requested subpoenaed documents. 
  • Coordinate efforts with local, state, and federal agencies for researching persons of interest and obtaining other identifying information 
  • Coordinate and collaborate with Baltimore City Police Department Witness Relocation Unit related to status of relocation cases 
  • Serve subpoenas to victims and witnesses for upcoming trial date hearing  
  • Work closely with Relocation Specialists for case review and in person interview process  
  • Maintain confidentiality  
  • Transport relocated victims and witnesses to and from doctors' appointments, safe houses, and court  
  • May be required to testify in cases presented to the Grand Jury for indictment and/or at hearings and trial. 
  • Maintain accurate notes in case management system   
  • Any other duties that fall within the Victim Witness Division  

 

Requirements: 

  • Applicants must have at least five years of experience in criminal investigation; 
  • Prior work experience in a law enforcement agency is required; 
  • Prior criminal justice experience is strongly preferred; 
  • Demonstrated adherence to ethical standards and sound judgment; 
  • Ability to work in a high-volume environment; 
  • Ability to interact professionally with attorneys, victims, and witnesses; 
  • Ability to multitask and manage competing priorities; 
  • Exceptional organizational skills; 
  • Positive attitude and ability to work independently; 
  • Enthusiasm to learn new ideas and concepts; 
  • Selected candidates will be subject to drug and alcohol testing and a criminal background check before starting employment; 

The selected candidate will be required to pass a criminal background check before starting employment. 

Salary: Salary range is $57,396 – $69,757. Compensation also includes a competitive benefits package.
