The Office of the State’s Attorney for Baltimore City is seeking paralegals to work in various prosecutorial divisions of the office.  This position is an at-will position and is not subject to civil service rules.

Position duties include but are not limited to the following: 

Reviewing criminal histories and parole and probation records

Reviewing National Crime Information Center reports

Checking Judicial Information System and Criminal Justice Information System for open warrants and pending cases

Notifying appropriate parties of open warrants

Entering data into appropriate databases; assisting charging attorneys with preparing charging documents

Assessing violent repeat offender status.

Assist prosecutors in obtaining evidence to include body worn camera, police reports, certified records, etc.

Draft subpoenas to obtain evidence such as medical records, cellular phone records, etc. 

Assist prosecutors in organizing discovery such as bate stamping documents, redacting electronic evidence, and sending out discovery through

Work with the prosecutors during trial to contact witnesses and victims to communicate when they are needed for trial

Assist prosecutors with organizing evidence for trial such as redacting body worn camera footage

General file management of files (electronic as well as physical files)

Conduct legal research through Lexis

Assist prosecutors with writing and filing motions

Additional skills necessary include, but are not limited to:

  • general typing and computer skills
  • a working knowledge of Word and Excel
  • attention to detail and ability to respond to requests correctly and accurately
  • ability to take direction and complete tasks with little or no supervision


An Associate’s degree in paralegal Studies from an accredited college or university is preferred.  Three years of experience performing paralegal work in the criminal justice field may be substituted for the education requirement.

A criminal background check is required before employment.


The salary for this position is $52,000+ per year.  This position includes paid time off and Baltimore City Health Benefits.
