Qualifications:
Applicants must possess at least a high school diploma or equivalent. Applicants must be fluent in English and Spanish. Applicants should possess the ability to work in a high volume environment. The ideal candidate should be able to interact professionally with attorneys, victims and witnesses, have the ability to multitask, have exceptional organizational skills, a positive attitude, be able to work independently, demonstrate enthusiasm to learn new ideas and concepts. Selected candidates will be subject to a criminal background check before starting employment.
The Administrative Assistant will:
- Contact victims and witnesses, especially those who are Spanish speaking prior to court hearings.
- Provide Assistant State's Attorneys and Victim Witness Coordinators with translation services as needed.
- Provide court accompaniment when requested for Spanish speaking victims or witnesses.
- Prepare correspondence to victims, witnesses and police officers to provide notification of upcoming court events.
- Answer incoming phone calls in response to office correspondence in order to obtain the most up to date information for victims and witnesses.
- Screen phone calls to determine if victim or witness needs to speak with VW Coordinator or ASA.
- Maintain a presence in Victim Witness room in order to check in witness, validate parking, answer any questions and communicate with VW coordinators.
- Process and sort any returned mail to the Victim Witness Coordinators.
- Check any upcoming cases for VNF forms to determine if VW Coordinators should notify Victims of hearings.
- Any other duties that fall within the Victim Witness Division.
Salary: Starting at $53,065 (commensurate with experience). Benefits are associated with this position.
