Government and Legislative Affairs is a unit designed to help navigate the federal, state, and local political and legislative systems. The Director of External Affairs leads this unit working with the community, local legislators, and the division leaders within the SAO to help craft a legislative agenda in anticipation of the annual legislative session in Annapolis. This unit provides yearly reports on the successful passage of legislation that may impact communities across the city and detailed reports on new laws that directly affect the criminal justice system to our ASAs. The Government and Legislative Affairs unit also communicates the goals, statistics, and prosecutorial outcomes of the BCSAO to the Mayor and members of the Baltimore City Council during periodically scheduled hearings and briefings.
