Office of the State's Attorney for Baltimore City

For Immediate Release 3/2/2015

Twenty-four year old Darius Brown was convicted of 1st degree murder and two hand gun offenses for his role in the death of Xavier "Ziggy" Lewis. A sentencing date has not been determined. Assistant State’s Attorney Bethany Durand tried the case.

Around 10 p.m. in the Madison-Eastend neighborhood on May 22, 2013, Lewis was standing with a group of people in the 2800 block of Ashland Avenue. Brown, an associate of Lewis, walked up to Lewis and shot him five times, then fled on foot.

Investigators gathered statements from several witnesses linking Brown to Lewis’ murder.

"I want to send a message to the murderers in this City that we will not tolerate such brazen disregard for human life." Baltimore City State’s Attorney Marilyn Mosby said.

Brown faces a maximum penalty of life plus 20 years behind bars.
