12.13.11: Second Man Convicted in Murder of Rival Gang Leader
December 13, 2011 -- A Baltimore City Circuit Court jury convicted Kedar Anderson yesterday of first-degree murder, kidnapping, and related charges for his role in the 2008 fatal shooting of a rival gang leader.
On June 8, 2008, at approximately 11:41 p.m., Kenneth Jones was standing near the corner of Custom House Avenue and Water Street in the city's central district when he was approached by two men armed with large caliber handguns. At gunpoint he was led to a nearby vehicle and forced into the trunk. Less than 40 minutes later, a call was placed to the Baltimore Police Department to report that the body of a male, later identified as Jones, had been discovered in the 4500 block of Bonner Road in Northwest Baltimore. He died of multiple shots to the head, fired at close range with a .45 caliber handgun.
The subsequent investigation revealed that Jones was the leader of the Pasadena Denver Lanes Bloods gang, also known by the acronym PDL. At the time of the murder, Jones's PDL was in a dispute with a rival set of Bounty Hunter Bloods known as the Spider Gang, which was headed by Dajuan Marshall.
Witnesses identified Marshall both as the person who ordered Jones's murder and as one of the two men who forced Jones into the trunk. Kedar Anderson was the second.
A jury convicted Marshall, 29, on October 24, 2011, of conspiracy to murder and participation in a criminal street gang resulting in death. Scheduled for sentencing on December 20, 2011, he faces a maximum of life plus 20 years in prison.
Anderson, 25, faces a maximum of two life terms plus 100 years in prison. He is to be sentenced on February 16, 2012.
Assistant State's Attorney Traci Robinson prosecuted both cases.
