Assistant State's Attorney - Economic Crimes
Position description
This position requires:
- Knowledge of the principles and practices of law, including court procedures and legal research methods and sources;
- Skill in using a personal computer and commonly utilized business and legal software in the performance of duties;
- Ability to investigate and handle a variety of complex cases effectively; building the case using circumstantial evidence and application of best business practices and assessing of fiduciary liability.
- Ability to interview victims and witnesses to gather information, research relevant case law and codes for applicability to varying legal issues, determine appropriate sentence recommendations and guidelines, and to develop strategies and theories for effective case prosecution;
Salary range
$81,097+
Responsibilities
- Drafting and preparation of a variety of legal documents, including, but not limited to, briefs, motions and legal memoranda, subpoenas;
- Coordination with other city and state agencies that provide assistance, protection and services to victims and witnesses of elder financial abuse and/or vulnerable person financial abuse;
- Participation in community engagement initiatives; and,
- Performance of related work as required.
Position requirements
Qualifications: Juris Doctor and Maryland bar admission is required. Prior prosecution jury trial experience is required. The ideal candidate will have demonstrated ability to work independently and will be highly organized. Understanding business accounting practices is preferred but not required.
Benefits package
Salary: $81,097+ (commensurate with experience) comprehensive benefits package.
