Alexis Cancel-Soto is the first of three charged in the crime
Baltimore, Md. (September 17, 2025) – Today, the Office of the State’s Attorney for Baltimore City announced that defendant Alexis Cancel-Soto was convicted of First-Degree Murder and related charges in the killing of Cameran Holt. Assistant State’s Attorney Justin Greer prosecuted this case. Sentencing is scheduled for December 3, 2025.
State’s Attorney Ivan J. Bates issued the following statement:
“This young woman’s life was tragically cut short as she innocently sat in her car, struck down by senseless gun violence. She was only 19 years old, with her whole life and a world of possibilities ahead of her, and her family has endured an unimaginable loss. Today’s conviction holds one of the individuals responsible for this horrific crime accountable, and it is a step toward justice for the victim and her loved ones.
“My office remains committed to vigorously prosecuting those who bring gun violence to our communities. We will continue to pursue the remaining defendants in this case to ensure that all who played a role in this young woman’s death are held to account. Thank you to my Homicide Unit, especially ASA Justin Greer, and BPD’s Homicide Detectives for their tireless efforts to secure justice in this particularly challenging case. Baltimore deserves safe neighborhoods where our young people can thrive and live their lives free from fear, and we will not stop working toward that goal.”
