Defendant Pleads Guilty To Fatal Attack on Partner

Baltimore, Md. (July 23, 2025)  – Today, State’s Attorney Ivan J. Bates announced that defendant Charles Meyers pled guilty to First-Degree Murder in connection with the fatal beating of his girlfriend, Krystal Praharnpap. He was sentenced to Life, suspending all but 40 years, and five years of probation upon release. Assistant State’s Attorneys Megan Gallo and Victoria Yeager prosecuted this case.

“This case stands as a poignant reminder of the heartbreaking toll that domestic violence takes on individuals and families. Though today’s sentence cannot restore Ms. Praharnpap to her loved ones, I sincerely hope it provides her family with a sense of solace, knowing that justice has been served and the offender held accountable,” said State’s Attorney Ivan J. Bates. “I would also like to extend my sincere appreciation to the Baltimore Police Department Homicide team and Assistant State's Attorneys Gallo and Yeager for their unwavering commitment to achieving justice for the victim and her family.”

On December 17, 2024, at 7:45 p.m., Baltimore Police officers were dispatched for reports of a domestic disturbance at the 1000 block of Quantril Way. Upon arrival, police had to forcibly enter the residence after requesting the defendant to open the door multiple times. Officers cleared the home and became aware that the defendant had fled the location on foot. Police found Krystal Praharnpap unresponsive in the upstairs bedroom. Despite EMS efforts, she was pronounced deceased at 8:50 p.m.

A search of police databases revealed that, within the past year, ten service calls were made to the residence for domestic-related disputes, assaults, property destruction, and other incidents involving the victim and the defendant. Though initially fleeing the scene, the defendant was apprehended within the vicinity of the Armstead Garden community and immediately detained.

The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner performed an autopsy on the victim and determined the cause of death was due to multiple injuries, including blunt force injuries to the head, neck, torso, and extremities.
