Repeat Violent Offender Faces 81 Years After Armed Robbery

Baltimore, Md. (August 13, 2025) – Today, the Office of the State’s Attorney for Baltimore City announced that defendant Shakur Eldridge was found guilty by a jury of two counts of Armed Robbery and numerous gun charges in connection with a fraudulent car purchase involving two victims. The defendant faces a maximum penalty of 81 years at sentencing scheduled for October 6, 2025.ASAs Kevin Reinoso and Samantha Danzinger prosecuted this case.

“This case is a reminder of the violent and reckless lengths some individuals will go to prey on others for personal gain,” said State’s Attorney Ivan J. Bates. “Our office will continue to pursue repeat violent offenders like Shakur Eldridge with the full weight of the law to keep our neighborhoods safe and protect the people of Baltimore.”

On August 11, 2024, officers with the Baltimore Police Department responded to reports of a shooting in the 1800 block of N. Caroline Street. Recovered at the scene was a .40 caliber shell casing and a vehicle with latent fingerprints that identified the suspect as Shakur Eldridge.

Earlier that day, the victim and his girlfriend had arranged to meet the defendant at the 1400 block of E. North Avenue to purchase a white 2007 Acura for $3,200. Upon arrival, the defendant instructed them to drive to the nearby 1800 block of N. Caroline Street. After a brief exchange, the defendant pulled a handgun, demanded the money, and—when the victim refused—shot him in the foot.

In the chaos, the victim shouted to his girlfriend to throw the money out of the vehicle’s window. The defendant grabbed the cash and then demanded that both individuals surrender their phones. When they refused, the defendant fled the scene on foot.

Eldridge is legally prohibited from possessing firearms or ammunition due to a prior conviction for Robbery with a Dangerous Weapon in 2022.
