Building Brighter Futures
Baltimore’s youth are the heart of our city’s future. The Baltimore City State’s Attorney’s Office is committed to empowering young people through mentorship, education, leadership opportunities, and meaningful community connection. Our Youth Engagement initiatives bring students together with positive role models and real-world experiences—from school visits and career days to creative arts programs, internships, and youth-centered advisory leadership.
Whether exploring career pathways, or participating in events throughout the year, Baltimore’s young people are gaining skills, building confidence, and shaping the future of their communities.

School Visits
BCSAO staff regularly visit schools throughout Baltimore City to engage students in discussions about public safety, career pathways, and the role of the State's Attorney's Office. These ongoing visits strengthen relationships with youth and create meaningful opportunities for dialogue and connection.
First Day of School Outreach
Each year, members of the SAO team greet students on their first day back to school. This initiative supports early relationship‑building, offers encouragement, and reinforces the office's commitment to community presence at the start of each academic year.
Back to School Community Event
Hosted annually in August, this event provides Baltimore youth and families with school supplies, community resources, and interactive activities. The initiative ensures that students begin the school year equipped, supported, and motivated to succeed.
Career Day with Baltimore City Public Schools
During Career Day, students learn about careers in criminal justice, public service, and law through direct interaction with BCSAO prosecutors, investigators, and staff. This program helps youth explore diverse professional pathways within the justice system.
Youth Art Contest — "Creative Justice"
This contest invited students to express their perspectives on justice, community, and safety through creative artwork. The "Creative Justice" theme encouraged artistic expression while fostering conversations about fairness, accountability, and the importance of youth voice.
