Baltimore City State’s Attorney Ivan Bates and Prince George’s County State’s Attorney Aisha Braveboy joined moderator Armstrong Williams for a live town hall Monday night to discuss crime, justice reform and community safety.
James Langhorne was 24 when he was convicted in 1996 for the November 1993 murder of 24-year-old Laurence A. Jones Jr. on the 1400 block of Bank Street. Langhorne maintained his innocence throughout his decades in prison.
On April 12, 2023, White and Foster were riding in the same train car when White observed an interaction between Foster and other passengers. Foster was seated next to a female passenger who became agitated by his presence. After three young passengers entered the train and started to interact with Foster, White testified that, “I was just trying to defuse the situation.”
A man accused of fatally shooting his brother and fleeing to North Carolina pleaded guilty to first-degree murder and firearm use in a violent crime before Baltimore City Circuit Court Judge Melissa K. Copeland on Feb. 6. Michael D. Conley, 35, fatally shot 27-year-old brother Devon Thomas on April 11, 2024 following a dispute in the 3400 block of Spelman Road.
According to the prosecution, the shooting occurred on the 600 block of North Robertson Street. Moulden was allegedly walking his dog in his backyard when the victim approached and spoke to him. When the victim turned to leave, Moulden allegedly called the victim back and fired. The prosecution described the severity of the victim’s paralysis and eye injury before asking Judge Schiffer to give Moulden a lengthier sentence than suggested by charge guidelines.
While the grief from Pava’s preventable murder continues to challenge us all, we must remember the good work she did in her short 26 years on this planet. The strong foundation that she laid, and all of the amazing progress that is being made in her name, and in her honor, in her adopted home state of Maryland.
The indictment, handed up Sept. 25, says Moore and Russell were hit men and part of a sophisticated “criminal organization” that used “shell limited liability corporations, bank accounts in minors’ names and money applications to avoid detection of payment derived from violent and illegal acts.”
The State's Attorney's Office is seeking attempted murder charges on the 18-year-old, but the 15-year-old was later released from the Department of Juvenile Services, until today.
Baltimore City State's Attorney, Ivan Bates, watched the recording and authorized the charge to be filed against the suspect, his office confirmed to WJZ.
