The Special Victims Unit (SVU) is dedicated to protecting the most vulnerable citizens of Baltimore through the prosecution of sex offense, child abuse, domestic violence, vulnerable adult abuse, and human trafficking cases. SVU has an office at North Avenue and at the SAO main building located at 120 E. Baltimore Street. SVU utilizes a victim-centered approach to prosecution that seeks to minimize re-traumatization by providing the support of victim advocates and social workers who are present throughout the criminal justice process to address survivors’ well-being and safety.
